1- All good points you made...

2- I have personal experience with all major database vendors

3- I did not say MS- SQL 7.0 & oracle were the same. But UDB/DB2 and others are, with the same , if not better mission criticality.

4- I was trying to make a point that they are NOT a gorilla. Period.

5- They are more at the mercy of the market , that a "controller" of it, like MSFT & windows, or Intel for chips.

6- I ** MET ** Ellion in London 4 years ago, and he IS a Arrogant, Ass / Morn ! ". Now I like Bill Gates, I like Michael Dell, Mr Ruettgers (EMC), Craig Barrett (INTC), Ed Zander (SUN), Mr Schimdt (Novell).

I detest Ellison for his arrogant contempt of all, his overweening ego, and the fact he took his eye off the ball on Oracle for a while.

7- I was saying that SQL Server 7.0 is grabbing low-end & mid share & DB2 is grabbing high end.

Oracle is NOT a gorilla, IMO

Take care
Jean
