Good idea Cheeky... I agree. Boxes are so, square, man.

I propose a heart-shaped area for the reply #, or, alternatively, a little cloud. Much more hip.

Why not ask SI to get rid of the box around the message reply number?

Because that would be an unreasonable and silly request. Although the message space would be cleaner without that box, getting rid of it would involve a loss of functionality. The box is a text input control. There's no way to provide a form-input device without such a box -- at least not until the browser-makers change the way they render that choice.

It's not something the SI has control over.
