Excerpts from NEALZ NUZE By Neal Boortz July 9, 1999 DAMNED IF YOU DO --- DAMNED IF YOU DON'T Yesterday I told you that Dubya was catching flack because his visit to San Francisco didn't include a little schmoozing with a group of black journalists meeting in that city. So, what does Dubya do? Well, he drops in on the black journalists' meeting. And just what happens? Why, now he's being accused of using the black journalists as a vote-getting exercise. Not only was this a meeting of black journalists, it was a meeting of black liberal journalists. They are firmly in the pocket of the Democratic Party. They aren't worth Dubya's time. THIS MAN WANTS TO BE PRESIDENT? Bill Bradley has weighed in on gun control (no, wait...gun safety!) with a column in the Washington Post. His plans: 1. Ban the distribution, sale, and manufacture of all "Saturday Night Special" handguns. 2. Require registration for all handguns. 3. Require licensing and safety training of everyone who owns a handgun. 4. Prohibit gun dealers from selling guns in residential neighborhoods. 5. Insist on mandatory trigger locks for guns. One of the first things you have to consider is just what constitutes a "Saturday Night Special?" You watch, the definition will include virtually any handgun.you can hide in your pants. Anyone with an ounce of logice – and who takes the time to check the facts – will know that this Bradley nonsense will only hinder the ability of law-abiding Americans to obtain and keep their most effective method of self-defense It's totally illogical. It's also completely typical of the leftist mentality. Take away a little more freedom in the name of safety and security. ATLANTA'S NEW "FACE 5" PROGRAM...WHAT YOU WON'T HEAR Yesterday, Atlanta officials announced their cooperation with federal officials to make the punishment harsher for criminals who use guns. The program, called FACE 5, is patterned after a similar program, called Project Exile, that has been so successful in Virginia. What you haven't heard in the media is that the success in Virginia is partly due to funding and support from the National Rifle Association. That's right. All the credit is going to the government. Whatever happens, the NRA can't get one little bit of recognition for it's contribution. TODAY'S BILL CAMPBELL MOMENT What did Bill Campbell, the illustrious mayor of Atlanta, have to contribute to this announcement of the Face 5 program? Well, Campbell stepped up to the mike and said "We simply can no longer tolerate guns killing and maiming people in our society." Yeah, leave it to Campbell to blame it all on the guns. The last thing he wants to do is hold his constituents up to blame. This is the same guy, though, who thinks "affirmative action" means affirmatively steering lucrative city contracts to campaign contributors and rich friends. WAS THE INCOME-TAX AMENDMENT EVER RATIFIED? This idea has been run by me hundreds of time by listeners over the years. I never thought amounted to much. Now, William J. Benson, a special agent with the Illinois Department of Revenue for 10 years, has done some research into the history of the 16th amendment to the Constitution and collected over 17,000 notarized documents from the year 1913, when this amendment was ratified. What he claims to have found is that only 27 of the 48 states properly ratified the amendment. That's way less than the required 36 states needed to make an amendment part of the Constitution. What's more, Benson says he's been persecuted by the federal government over his findings. A senatorial aide tried to bribe him. The aide said that, in exchange for suppressing all copies of his research, "you will live in comfort for the rest of your life." Benson said no. He got thrown into prison on income-tax charges, where authorities took away his encephalitis medication. A judge saw what the feds were doing to him, and Benson was released after nearly 16 months in jail. Benson is preparing to sue the dog squeeze out of the people who put him in prison. If this is true--and, on the surface, it certainly looks like it could be--then the 16th Amendment has to be the worst scam ever pulled off by the United States government against its own people. Is it any wonder that the feds would want to keep this under wraps? Once word of this leaked to the press (yeah--like that's going to happen anytime soon), they'd have a full-scale revolt that would make King George think he got off easy. That said, is it any wonder why the government wants us disarmed and uninformed? This is just starting to unfold, so stay tuned. Think about it --- it could be the push we need to move to a national retail sales tax. Here's a link so you can follow the story yourself. worldnetdaily.com . COPYCAT! COPYCAT! Okay, so we know from reading the news that George W. has a spotty service record. Yesterday we learned he's a racist for not visiting a bunch of minority journalists in Seattle. (Actually, he caved and made a brief appearance for about half an hour.) Today we've learned that Dubya is nothing but a big fat copycat. Bill Clinton took time out from his Love the Poor tour to give an interview for the Los Angeles Times yesterday. He wants to claim fatherhood over the idea of "compassionate conservatism." Clinton said "The rhetoric of compassionate conservatism--half those speeches sound like I gave then in '92." Now aides for Clinton and Bush are duking it out, with each side arguing that their man was compassionate and conservative first. HILLARY LISTENS...RUDY DOES While Queen Hillary continued her phony "listening tour" of upstate New York --- and proving her humanity by actually using public restrooms – New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was making sure New York City was a safe place during Wednesday's blackouts. The man who will probably be Hillary Rodham's Republican opponent for the Senate is winning praise for his crisis-management skills during the blackout that left more than 200,000 without electricity. In the hardest-hit area of Washington Heights, there were only a few arrests and minimal looting. Giuliani ordered additional police and city workers to hit the streets and came out smelling like a rose. New Yorkers, if you're reading this...do you want a senator who listens, or one who can do? boortz.com
