dave, let's call off the dogs, shall we? Admittedly, my feeble attempts at humor may not be FUNNY but I fail to see how they could be misinterpreted as anything but levity [or did you seriously believe that we'd meet in a blind alley?]
For the record, I didn't accuse you of being a member of the CDMA jihad, I accused ME (and all the other QCOM nut cases). See dave, it's all about this humor thing.
For the record, I love being challenged by articulate, well educated, technically oriented (which I ain't), guys who (I speculate) are very likely professionals in the biz. See, dave, I'm into making money, lots of it. So if I've made some doofus move based on bad data, then I'm more anxious than you could ever even fantasize about correcting it and moving on. Humor helps ME avoid the brainwashing thing: at the same time, it puts a little snap, crackle, and pop into the life thing.
You should try it some time. Mike Doyle

Dave,

I asked these questions over on the ATHM thread, but was wondering what your opinion on the subject is.

1) What percent of U.S. households are passed by cable plant that is potentially upgradeable to two-way?

2) What percent of U.S. households have the potential to be passed by DSL?

Thanks in advance for whatever help you can provide.

Shade

I'm still trying to learn whether there is technology that will allow splitting of physical bandwidth into multiple virtual channels for use in a multiple ISP cable environment.

For example you could take 2 40Mbit (=80Mbit) physical channels and split it into three virtual channels that use 50/20/10 Mbit. I'm sure that theoretically it could be done, but I'd like to know if such technology is available now or any time in the near future.

Anyone know? Is there any other way to prevent one ISP from infringing on the performance of another except by assigning physical spectrum to each ISP?
