This is Too Funny

A few years ago, the results to date prior to this news release would have generated a stock price of $6 - 12. In the post Bre-X (or the .com era), we tend to be skeptical of ever making money on mining companies. The NR is about what I would expect. A 10 carat diamond is nice, but we really need to hear what the CSO values the stone at. Large stones have all sorts of funny valuations. Trivalence Mining (shameless promotion) recently sold a 146 carat diamond for 2 MUS$, but the Aredor Mine has produced a 20 carat diamond with the same value and a 70 carat diamond valued at 2.8 MUS$ (and larger stones that were valued as industrial grade- less than 100 K$).

Fact is, they have a mine and our just doing confirmation. With the rough sales back up this year, De Beers may decide to go ahead (or they may wait 5 years).

I suspect that we won't see much of a run up, even if the found a few 100 carat diamonds. It will more likely be a slow buildup while Europeans start buying with Americans entering in latter, if the stock market bubble doesn't burst. No one got very excited over Winspear, so expect the same thing.

This one is going to be a long term investment which should pay off down the road.

Cheers
