Good laugh. The simple solution is the TV's "off" button.

Television is not a news medium. It's an advertising medium. Because of this, everything seen on TV is related to increasing market share for the sake of increasing advertising revenues. If the folks at CNBC didn't focus on the negative, and the public wasn't so addicted to hanging on every word that might tip it off that the sky was about to fall, everyone would push the "off" button and get on with their lives.

Think about your response when an ad comes on CNBC. If the ticker symbols are still running on the bottom of the screen, you probably stick around, right? Every once in while, though, you'll see an ad (which I assume costs the client a lot more money) in which the ad fills the whole screen and the running ticker disappears. I don't know about you, but I immediately turn my attention or the channel changer elsewhere. I suspect that EVERYONE does this, and I'm surprised that those who purchase ads on CNBC haven't figured this out.
