Good point Godfried. You increase the pixel per picture, you necessarily increase the amount of space necessary to store that picture to file. So, your point, 4K X 4K pixel (high) requires more space - as you stated 1 picture per X mbg of flash wouldn't be acceptable. Solid state really has quite a ways to go cost wise to catch up to magnetic, doesn't it. And they keep improving drive functions, substrates, mechanisms, power requirements (Korean firm has been working on a very interesting alternative to current arsenide, nickel/cadium and other battery forms for six years and now has come up on some really cool results - can't think of their name right now - will look it up on Monday - a publically traded company - starts with a V). Seagate has some interesting views regarding the future of solid state vs. "magnetic".
