I hear the complaints about Disneyfication, but I do not see it. It is more family friendly, and there are a few stores like a Disney outlet, but mostly it looks like Times Square, only cleaner in both a physical and moral sense....

No, we don't lament the clean up of the hell-hole that was Times Square. It was a disgrace to the city, and a dangerous place. For tourists to see that this horrific red light district was allowed to fester in the heart of our city tainted the entire city in the minds of America. New York is now a safe and interesting place to live and to visit.
