RTev, How do you feel about public messages going into the trash after reading? To me this is nonintuitive, but since I can't think of any alternatives I am directing this to you.

Interesting. You point out a feature that I hadn't even noticed.

I posted a bug on a related issue when the beta was first released. For the first day or two, the Inbox(#) count did not decrease after one had read a message in a thread. That's now changed. The inbox counter works like it did in the classic. But I see that the messages are now moved to Trash.

Frankly, I hadn't noticed that since I've never looked in the Trash folder. I thought the read messages disappeared completely, and was comfortable with that. Now that you point the Trash list, I can see how it could be useful as a way to find those messages that have been read.

Hmm. It seems to be an issue of folder naming.

Common feature of classic and beta:
-- Count of public messages is automatically decremented after they're read, either in the inbox or on the thread.

Classic method:
-- List of public messages automatically moved to the "To me" folder.

Beta method:
-- List of public message automatically moved to the "Trash" folder.

Common feature of classic and beta:
-- The list in the folder ("To me" or "Trash") is automatically pruned.

"To me" as a folder name is more intuitive. Someone looking for a message that's been read is more likely to find it in the "To me" folder. But, on the other hand, "To me" doesn't clarify the automatic administration feature of the folder. The name "Trash" makes it clear that this is a temporary storage area and the things in it are going to be dumped.

I recall reading a string of messages months ago in which folks were upset by that auto-pruning of the "To me" list. I suppose that's one reason that "Trash" was chosen, but I'd give a slight nod to "To me" because it clarifies what is automatically placed in the folder. "Trash" also fails to indicate what's actually happening since only the list is being trashed in the case of public messages.

Does anybody know what happened to the earnings post that used to be at the thread header? People would enter the earnings dates in there. I just noticed its gone. Thanks
