What Xoma does is get BPI approved for one clear indication. Once this is done, the entire scientific community can start applying BPI in other clinical settings for other, off label, indications. The classic case of this being done is Amgen's Epogen. It's labelled for end stage renal disease anemia. But has been applied, successfully I might add, to many other anemias.
