first of all, it would be great if we could all be truthful on this thread and on any thread where a vote is taken that asks for your take on Y2K.

the fact is, every computer programmer and every computer professor and every computer technician who I spoke to about this problem has put forth the notion that the USA faces minimal loss.

also for those who vote, we should know if they are technicians or not because the vast majority are not.

in terms of my own preparation, I live in a dense city environment and plan to be part of a group/neighborhood effort in the event that things go awry.

while you, rarebird, have staked out your territory, I find it quite exclusionary. there are many, many people in the USA who do not have the wherewithal to plan for this event, and while I may buy a few gallons of water, I am allergic to almost everything canned and freeze-dried (due to the chemicals involved). so willing or unwilling, I choose to help and bond with my fellow man and woman.
