X, I was confused by your statement because I had read recently that there are no real differences at all between the various "races" below the level of the skin. Perhaps in the article I read the point was that there are no innate intellectual inferiorities, etc. Certainly from the recent news stories about physiological differences in the way black bodies work--the suceptibility to diabetes, etc.--there are differences in the way diseases work. I was curious about that, also, though--the diabetes differences are in American blacks. I wonder if the same is true of Africans, or if there is something about the very fatty southern American diet, substandard health care, and vestiges of slavery that may explain some of these things. I am not suggesting anything here, just asking a question. Does anyone know?

I remember going out in front of my apartment in New Orleans every year to watch the contestants in the Crescent City Classic, a 10K race that started in the French Quarter, went down Prytania Street, where I lived, and ended at Audubon Park. I would sit on the steps and wait for the runners to go by. The runners in front were always black males, typically from Kenya. That's one difference that is indisputable. And, the one sport I do watch occasionally is basketball. Black men really dominate that game, it's just a fact. Except for throwing 3-pointers, at that, white men excel. Facts are facts.
