(OT) Any 'gemmers who are techies and can "talk down" I need help. Three years ago I wrote on a battered SCM portable typewriter, broke down and bought a W/P. Last year I went from phoning in my trades to buying a WEBTV and trading on-line. I'm ready for a laptop. What kind? What cost? What features? I ain't got a clue...and if I walk into a place that sells 'em they'll spot me as a rube in 20 seconds. I want a laptop so I can trade from my home office or ot by the pool (I have power and can run a phone line ot there). Do I need a modem? A modem "card"? whatever that is. What size screen, how powerful. I just want to be able to trade, pull up charts, maybe set up pages with my own watch lists that'll alert me when prices and/or volume reach limits I set. But you gotta talk to me like I'm 8 years old and asking Uncle Murray about sex. I don't know a gigahertz from a megahertz from a matzoh-ball. I think I want it to be fast in pulling up stuff I wanna pull up. Is there
any software I need? What about ISP's and bandwidth and what's coming? Please keep in mind that I'm a trader, not an investor. And that for this go 'round I'd like to get a relatively inexpensive laptop and then when I'm a bit more adept, upgrade. Thanks. (Lee)
