It took me over a month to open my first Wit account... And I was trying hard. I completed the online application, and at the end got a message saying that a Wit rep would contact me by phone. None did. I e-mailed countless times. I was able to get a fax to go through once without a busy signal. I tried to phone countless times over a month, but literally either got a busy signal or no answer for a solid month. And then one day while I was going through my daily re-dial ritual, the phone started ringing. After about 30 rings, the automated menu system answered. And after another mere 90 minutes, a human being appeared on the other end of the line. He was apologetic, said they were doing all they could do, took all my info by phone, and opened the account right then. I naively and excitedly entered a CO on ETYS, which had been posted for a couple of hours. (That was the first posting of ETYS, which was nullified when it was postponed.) I FedExed 'em a check for $2K, styled Chop dba Chop Industries (not really, but you get the picture) and waited. Two weeks later, the check came back, rejected for being a "corporate check" that could not be deposited into an individual account. I promptly wired the money directly from that same account, which was accepted without a problem. Now with that gloomy picture painted, let me tell you that it's not that way anymore. I've opened a joint account since then, and my wife has opened an individual account. Compared to the original experience, both of those went quite painlessly. If you'll call 'em at about 8:30 AM EST or about 6 PM EST at the 888-594-8227 number, you can usually get through to someone pretty quickly to get things straightened out. They were and still are experiencing terrible growing pains, but I truly see most areas improving daily. They also appear to follow their stated allocation policy, though it's still disappointing when the shares don't roll your way. All in all, I think they're a good company with a bright future. Chop
