But...at some point....we'll have enough bandwidth. Just like processing power has somewhat caught up with demand now (let's not start that argument, but Celerons cost like $30 now and an ok computer can be had for $399). If the bandwidth capacity is doubling every 3 months, at some point down the future, even if 7 billion earthlings are using 100 MBit a sec, there will be too much bandwidth. At that point, prices will drop like a rock and some people will lose a lot of money. But the people with the fiber already installed and paid for will do fine. At that point they'll be able to sell bandwidth based upon the cost of maintenance, not the cost of installing fiber. I think that's why we're seeing a tremendous growth of fiber being installed. They need to get it in the ground and get it paid for while the prices are still high.
