Some "New" Rambust News KH Yeap Friday, July 9, 1999 (4:30 PM EST)
Thanks to Northyen for sending along this EB News editorial on Rambust. Among the interesting points are:
- Rambust will be launched in Sept. at 600 Mhz, 700 (711) Mhz and 800 Mhz
- Intel will simultaneously launch two versions of 133 Mhz FSB Camino i820 chipsets: Camino that supports all the 3 flavors of Rambust aforementioned, and a "1% Camino" or "skim Camino" that supports only 600 Mhz and 800 Mhz versions of Rambust
- All Camino flavors (full cream, half & half, non-fat, 1% and what not) will support PC100 but not PC133 SDRAM via Memory Translator Hub (MTH)
- Camino can only use either SDRAM or Rambust at one time, not both
- i810e, the enhanced version (meaning enhanced troubles too?) of the ill-fated i810 will also support 133 Mhz FSB, but again, no PC133 support
