Three Putt, can you ask your cable salesman why you must sign-up cable internet with ATHM? See what he says. My friends live in the next town and they pay $30/month with cable provider A, I have to pay $40/month to get what they get and I can't use their provider, that sucks. Cable providers are a bunch of old-fashioned blood-sucking business people, consumers are under their turf, they raise price for basic services every year and you can do a thing about it. Starting next month, my town is allowed to choose our own power utility company! but I am a hostage of my cable operator. I used to have a garbage collector always missed their pick-up days so I changed to a new operator, imaging if I can't change it, my house would have smell badly! But I am a hostage of my cable operator. I pay them fee anyway, I don't care who gets it but I entitle the right to change to a new one if I choose to. Why AOL and other ISPs cannot pay rental fee to ATT or other cable operators to get their member hooked by them? I made good money on ATT early this year, I broke even on ATHM, but I don't agree what ATT says the open-access will slow down 2-way cable deployment, if business demands so badly, big revnue is coming, how can you slow down? No income? Not enough people using it? that's a bunch of crabs.ATT wants domination, so they can offer 65% cable internet usage in USA and once they have you addicted to their broadband service they got you by the balls and they can jerk up the price anytime, you don't have choice but to pay it because there is no other places to turn to! Whoever thinks pipeline should be dominated by ATT/ATHM is mad! Think about this: when you don't like a car dealer's price of a new car, what do you do? Beg him? Think about this: A restaurant treats you badly, what do you do? Beg them to be nice because you are afraid of them not admitting you next time? Are we blessed by our society's openness? Internet is such an important industry, it is like industrial revolution once over, how can we allow anyone to hold the internet's growth? Not MSFT, not IBM, not ATT, not AOL, not a soul, fly, let the internet fly, don't hold it back, turn it loose! Long on AOL and wish all municipalities go along with the open-access policy, don't let ATT be in the dominant position before it is too late to turn, well, if you like the feeling that 'you balls is not yours to say' then go ahead.
