I would not overdo her status as a thinker. It may be that Moynihan is the only real intellectual in the Senate. It is not clear that politicians should be intellectuals, or vice versa. I like Guiliani, and therefore find your intemperance bizarre. I am not sure that she could do much harm in the Senate, but why take the chance? As for carpet- bagging, mostly I think it vitiates the idea of representation, but it is up to the people of New York....
