<< It becomes necessary , if we are human, to have faith.>>

What's that mean in English? And what's it got to do with the subject under discussion?
And even given its truth, it is quite obvious that one needs to exercise extreme caution and great judgement in deciding what and who to have faith in. Religious faith in Jim Jones and David Koresh led to death. Faith in that Applegate(?) character (Heaven's Gate, remember?) led to a purple bandanna on your non-breathing chest.

<< Without faith, IMO, we would be on an even intelligence level with an amoeba. >>
This is simply a stupid statement. Trying to claim a human with a large, extremely complex nervous system is the same as an amoeba simply because he/she does not happen to believe the same brand of superstition as you is absurd.

Squirrel story continued.
Thanx James for the tin suggestion. Here's what my sensational wife suggested: "Honey," she 'sez: "Let's take those plastic gallon grape juice bottles that we use to cover the tomatoes at night in the spring and put them around the post of the bird feeder."
"Brilliant" I 'sez. So---we altered the empty gallon bottles and attached them up the post. Slick as _________. And the squirrels haven't made it up them yet. And the birds are enjoying their meals any time of the day or night!
Speaking of birds, Jane Hafker was decrying a year ago about the disappearance of birds in this century over the past several years. Let me say---I've never seen as many birds as we have around these parts as I have this year---the bird feeder notwithstanding. That's why we put the bird feeder up---so many birds around. And there are some beauties!!!
We also put up a humming bird feeder---and we have counted as many as 60 coming in any given hour. Grant you, some are probably the same ones, but what an array of humming birds as well.
So much for the birds.
"His eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches me." So sang Ethyl Waters, the product of a raped mother who was then 13. And Ethyl Waters in her book 'sez: "God don't sponsor no flops"
A good wholesome attitude on life considering her background. And a good wholesome attitude on life regardless of ones background.
