Hi,

Thank you for your interest in RIM!

1. Selecting your Studies
Open the "Basic RIM View" and right click in any of the 6 columns.
Then select "Attach Study" and select the study you would like to
show in that column. Then go to a different column until you soo
all the studies you would like to see.

2. Reduced Database
Good idea to shrink the database if you are only interested in
those stocks to save you time at the opening/closing daily prodecure.
The Bandwidth is only affected by the actual stocks selected in the filter.

3. RIM Bandwidth/Datafeed Overhead
Watch the Tick counter above the time display and multiply by 20bytes
Maximum Example:
Even if you watch ALL 2800 NASDAQ symbols
RIM will proces around 80 Ticks per second (or 80*20bytes = 1,600bytes/second)
Regular Example:
If you watch a smaller subset of maybe 500 symbols with 20 Ticks per second
RIM will proces around 20 Ticks per second (or 20*20bytes = 400bytes/second)
or 11% of the slowest 28,800bits per seond connection!
9:40 Open Procedure equilavent to a 300k download (2 minutes)
16:16 Close Procedure equilavent to a 1MB download (10 minutes)

Good product with free trial to monitor the bandwidth:

4. Adding individual Stocks to filter selection
Make a list of the extra symbols you want to add (i.e "\rim\extra.txt"), Then run the filter and append
this file to the regular RIM stock watch list (\RIM\move.txt).
If you have already a complete list of all the specific stocks you want to watch, just copy that list to "\RIM\move.txt"
and the press "Stop RIM" and the again "Start RIM" WITHOUT
using the filter (A new filter would overwrite your "\RIM\move.txt" file)

5. Adding individual Stocks to Database
You can always add Stocks again using the "Symbol Info" button.
Then enter the symbol and press "ADD", repeat until you
have entered all new symbols. When you close the Symbol Info box
RIM will start to load the info and add these new symbols to the database.

Many of these topic are also mentioned in detail in the
Online help: Start/Programs/RIM/RIM Online help.

Cheers,
Madhur
