I would not have gone out of my way to do it, but I was looking at daycare centers that took infants, most of which are just baby mills. This one was different, lots of educated staff, all kinds of enriching toys, and I decided, well, maybe it's a good idea. And he thrived there. It was only for 15 hours a week, 20 when I was studying for tests.

One unexpected but good thing for me was that one of the children was born about as prematurely as my first little boy was (26 1/2 weeks, I think she was maybe a little older because she larger when she was born), and she had terrible problems, she was blind from the oxygen, and had brain damage which caused her to be spastic. If he had lived (his name was Brian), it's likely he also would have had similar problems. Seeing her daily made it easier for me to get over his death.
