Baton
You named it right off the bat.(trusted poster)
One of the ideas behind this thread is the more eyes and ears we
have out there the better off we all are. There are a some posters
that I trust their DD with out doubt. Some I will not touch until
I do my own DD.If that means I loose out on a gain so be it. The
base of this thread it to be in before everyone else so there is
usually no hurry to move in right away..Randy mentioned the stock
Fri and you have the whole weekend to research it..If you feel that
it is worth it then you can buy this week. It is in a SAM mode
which means buy when you can for a hold. Maybe a little at a time.
DOES NOT mean that this will rocket on Mon. As for time of day, it
could be that a stock just came to be noticed by someone..Sometime I
will post a stock during the day because I see a lot of strength
in the movement.EDGR was one that just would not quit. I mentioned
it around 15 + and when it broke the intra day high of 16 (I believe)
with a lot of momentum I knew it was going higher and that it did.
Expierence traders know what to do and if they should take a chance
or not. Some traders buying from this thread was not going to make a
difference. But it was an opportunity if you wanted it.......
Newbies and the not so experience trades should just watch and learn.
When a stock runs like that I will usually sell in to the strength
the next day. CYSP on Fri was another strong runner and fast. Should
gap up on Mon when I might sell..ESPS was a slower mover which could
continue on Mon (looking for news)..So if I post a stock during
the day, I'm just alerting traders to that fact.I'm not pumping just
alerting and take it from there. Remember that once you got a high
flyier make sure you know what to do after that.....
As far as quick DD what you do is ok but I would add that you do a
search for postings and look for news.

Baton, thanks much. There is no DD shortcut. But depending on whether your interest is as a scalp, a daytrade, a swing trade or a position. . . .your DD could likewise change from:

None on a scalp, provided it has upward momentum and strong volume.

Learning "why" a stock is moving and what the float is [and all of the above] on a daytrade.

In addition to the above, for a swing trade [overnight or a few nights]. . .looking at potential pitfalls, "who" is playing [what made stock move], what news is expected, what the market attitude is, whether volume is consistently strengthening, what is reasonable target price, what is short position and stance, what other stocks may move in sympathy which might be added for a hedge.

And for a position trade to long-term, a full historical, financial and structural DD cannot and should not be rushed. . . should include discussion, competitive analysis and contact with company [for any unanswered questions, etc.].
