If you do not consider it a philosophy, then you do not understand the underlying purpose of the marketplace.

To paraphrase the Bard: "All the world is a stage, and some of us are players..."

3), as the most rational course for the nonce, I frequent SI to help keep myself informed about the stocks I hold (I do a minimal amount of "trading").

You are better off reading books about the subject of investing, and doing research on your own.

If you are truly interested in investing and succeed (in terms of having more than today, over "x" period of time, it is important that you develop a "strategy" or "style", or "philosophy", or --call it what you will-- but one that is YOURS.

In such fashion, you will not have to listen to the loud mouths that abound SI...

However with a few exceptions, for entertainment, particularly when trading is slow, or you want to take it easy, SI is one of the best... --more or less like Celebrity Death Match of cyberspace.

Good luck.
