Carl you are describing a bear market within the internets and that may very well occur and shake out those that thought any internet they put their cash into would go up....
A bear market in the internets would put them on another level of maturity where not eveything associated with a .com would do well because investors then, at the beginning of a new bull market would be more decerning where they throw their money....and their would be fewer internets that would rocket....but those fewer would still exceed their value beyond investors wildest dreams IMO in a new, fresh bull market...and this would, IMO continue until the Internet or WWW matures to the point we can see its growth curve smoothing out.
Of course, as the new bull matures, rampant speculation in anything with a .com connected to it would begin again, but that would be of short duration as the speculative bubble bursts once again. IMO, of course.
I still would say that the internets are a different breed apart from your more "conventional" stocks and would remain, IMO, that way until the growth curve in the world wide web moderates and sustains itself in a more measured growth rate where its limits can be measured.
