1000 MHz Athlon demo'ed continuously at California Computer Expo. This is a real product & the 1 GHz production system is promised for November. The 1000 MHz Kryotech system was jointly demo'ed with a distibutor in San Diego, Computer Renaissance. It was behind a curtain, but ANYONE COULD WATCH IT RUN WINSTONE 99 AND HIGH END WINBENCH FLAWLESSLY. I personally saw it do Winstone 99 and hi-end WinBench 99 twice. The setup did not allow you to read the scores off the screen except for some hi-end Winstone numbers that I didn't copy down. I did see the system crash twice during the hour I was in the booth while mousing around some display properties of the Diamond Video drivers.

It was also interesting that the Kryotech rep repeated the "750 MHz in '99" rumor while talking up the Athlon. He also mentioned 25% to 35% as the range of "thermal acceleration" that could be achieved by the Kryotech cooling technique over and above the rated speed of the Athlon.

So, if Kryotech is promising a 1000 MHz system in November, it seems to me that this implies that 750 Mhz or 800 MHz Athlone will be available in November.

BTW, Computer Renaissance will have the 800 MHz system in their stores the second week of August.
