Paracelsian Announces Management Addition and Patent Allowance on Dioxin Test
ITHACA, N.Y., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Paracelsian, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: PRLN - news) announced today that Jeffrey Morrison, former President of the American Herbal Products Association has joined the company as Director of Business Development.

''Jeff Morrison has been a strong supporter of functional testing of herbs and specifically of Paracelsian's BioFIT(TM) program from its inception,'' stated Bernie Landes, President and CEO of Paracelsian. ''He is one of the most respected people in the herb industry and we're especially excited to have a person of such stature as part of our team,'' he added. ''Paracelsian has already begun generating revenues from testing samples of both finished herbal products and raw materials on a regular basis. The enthusiasm for the BioFIT(TM) program at the National Nutritional Foods Association meeting and NUTRACON nutraceutical conference, both just held in Las Vegas, only confirm our belief that Paracelsian has the right program at the right time for the natural products industry,'' he concluded.

''When I was President of the American Herbal Products Association, I placed the use of functional testing, such as that in the BioFIT(TM) certification program, at the top of my list of priorities for enhancing the quality assurance of herbal products,'' stated Mr. Morrison. ''I'm especially pleased to be able to play a key active role in implementing a program that I believe has such scientific merit and can play such a significant role in helping to raise the quality bar for our industry,'' he added.

Paracelsian also announced that it has received notice of allowance for its latest patent application related to its innovative Dioxin Assay known as the Ah Immunoassay. The assay is highly accurate and can be performed in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost of other Dioxin testing methods currently available. It can be used to detect dioxin and dioxin-like compounds in food, soil, water, or even the blood of wildlife or humans. The company also has foreign patent applications pending for this same technology.

''This quick, accurate, portable and inexpensive test for dioxin and dioxin-like compounds holds great promise for Paracelsian's future success and provides a new tool in the worldwide effort to monitor the presence of these highly toxic materials in our environment,'' stated Bernie Landes, Paracelsian President and CEO. ''We expect to consummate a major partnership in Japan in the immediate future to implement the use of this assay for monitoring dioxin output from municipal waste incinerators and we are in negotiations to validate the use of the assay for testing food and water samples in China and Europe,'' he added. ''The Ah Immunoassay has the potential to become the primary vehicle for early detection of dioxin contamination on a worldwide basis and this new patent further strengthens our market leadership in this area,'' he concluded.

Paracelsian is a unique biotechnology company whose business centers on the development and application of functional bioassays. These assays are the basis of its BioFIT(TM) Quality Assurance program for herbs, botanicals and other dietary supplements, are also used in the development of dietary supplement, OTC and pharmaceutical products, and in monitoring environmental toxins and identifying carcinogens.

The company is actively in E-commerce through its Internet business that leverages its unique relationships in China to provide proprietary content related to Traditional Chinese Medicine on its China-med.net website (http://www.china-med.net).
