The FED has spoken. Unless something very unexpected occurs, rate bumps upward are not in the cards. But Mr. Greenspan has spoken often about the market, it's height and wealth effect and his concerns. I would not be surprised to see the FED damper things by upping margin requirements 5-10%.
Where interest rate hikes will effect the economy, margin tightening would affect, to some degree, the "speculative" market. I called my friend Bufflekarp the Bookmaker, posed this to him. He made a few calls came back with a line of 6:5 (pick 'em) that the FED will go this route. (Lee)
