Dear William, the market never goes up and up forever! I've been through 1987. And so have many others here.

I see the market is down today. A Chicago Fed member believes:

Chicago Fed Moskow sees rising CPI in 1999

NEW YORK, July 12 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Michael Moskow said on Monday he expected U.S. overall inflation to outpace core inflation in 1999 due to higher oil prices.

Moskow also expected U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth to top a prior Fed forecast for a 2.5- to 3.0-percent increase.

''I can tell you the Chicago Fed (1999 growth) forecast is for over 3.0 percent annual,'' Moskow told reporters after addressing the Council for Urban Economic Development."

[William, The CPI and PPI come out this week. One on Tuesday, the other on Wednesday. They may not be good news for the market!!

Butt I am a long-term investor. I believe the US has top-notch companies that will perform very well in the future.

If there is a serious market correction, I would view it as a buying opportunity because many companies expect 20 to 30% profit increases. Taht's a whole lot more than you can make in bonds. Even a big company like GE had 15% increase in earnings this quarter and GE's CEO expects strong growth for the rest of the year, according to Press reports.

So if I don't leave my money in the stock market, what would I do with it? Buy gold <g>

I hope you had a nice weekend. Did your roses wither in the heat wave?

Cheers,

Mephisto
