Kasten Chase Announces Support of Linux and Java
in VersaPath Web-to-host Products

Full Suite of Web-to-host Solutions includes support for Microsoft's ActiveX, Citrix, Linux and
Java

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 1999-- Kasten Chase Applied Research (TSE:KCA - news), a leading provider
of host access connectivity solutions, today announced that its VersaPath(TM) Web-to-host product will support the Linux
operating system and Java client technology, making the industry's most complete Web-to-host solution even more flexible.

VersaPath is the only Web-to-host connectivity product that fully integrates desktop and browser clients in a single solution.
VersaPath gives organizations the power to deliver business-critical mainframe data and applications via their IP networks.

''Linux and Java are perfect complements to VersaPath and offer customers greater choices in technology,'' said Glen
Kazerman, vice president and general manager, Kasten Chase. ''With VersaPath's added support for Linux, organizations
using legacy hardware can access a robust, fully-integrated desktop/browser solution running on one of the most powerful and
flexible operating systems.''

Kasten Chase is future-proofing enterprise networks with Web-to-host migration solutions designed to endure the business
lifecycle and capitalize on technology advancements in PC operating systems, Web technologies, and security. The company
enables organizations to preserve their existing IT infrastructure and migrate to new access technologiesosaving extensive
maintenance and communications costs.

Kasten Chase is extending VersaPath's flexibility by adding Java to the list of supported clients, which already includes Desktop
and Browser using ActiveX. With VersaPath you have the option to choose more than just one client. Any or all client types
are supported concurrently on the same system. In addition, remote users will have concurrent access to the multiple client
types supported by VersaPath.

According to industry analyst Tim Sloane of the Aberdeen Group, ''Linux and Java are affordable alternatives to NT-based
gateways and clients. By supporting Linux and Java, Kasten Chase offers the best of both worlds to organizations in need of a
leading-edge migration solution, which is fully-integrated, robust, flexible, secure and scalable, as well as centrally-managed and
administered.''

Support for Linux and Java in VersaPath will be available in the third quarter of 1999, and will add to the solution's feature set
which already includes a powerful Desktop client, Browser client (based on ActiveX® technology), Citrix® client package,
VersaPath Developer's Tool Kits and VersaPath's NetMinder monitoring tools.

About VersaPath

VersaPath's centralized client configuration and software management features save organizations time and money, while
providing seamless mobility and superior support to the user. System administrators can easily install, configure and control host
session access for hundreds of desktop and mobile users, without having to leave their desk. VersaPath is an easy-to-manage
solution, in which configurations are downloaded transparently upon user authentication, allowing the user to receive the same
configuration regardless of which PC is used to access the service.

Further, both desktop and browser client versions are supported on the same centralized infrastructure and centralized
