Look at hockey. A game that is not on TV lasts 2:45 to 3:00 But a game on TV lasts 20 to 45 minutes longer.

I agree. I attended a Phoenix Roadrunner game (minor league game) a few years back and it was really exciting and fast paced. The game ended at something like 5-4. This year I attended a Phoenix Coyotes game and was bored out of my gourd in a lousy 2-2 tie where it seemed that the players spent more time waiting for the TV commercial break to end than they did on the ice. I won't attend another one unless it's free, or nearly so.
