To JLS: For whatever reason, I cannot respond to your post. SI won't let me. There is no "Submit Response" box on the respond page to your post. . .weird. Anyway, here is your answer: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Welcome JLS, glad you've come on in. Yes, MOT is a new company entirely. . .and I am getting the feeling that it is being seen in a similar light with QCOM these days. So while it is easy to look only at historical action and sell just before or after earnings, there is an equal or even better chance that this one will continue from here and even make some of it's biggest gains ever. . .over the next 9 months. The buzz is that MOT is going to blow away the street and even the whisper. . .that should bring a nice premium, if selling after earnings. . .but it could also fuel new interest. Think about it. . .you are a fund manager, looking for companies with incredible earnings and a strong footing in Next-Generation broadband internet and / or wireless broadband . . . .and here comes MOT. Don't they make televisions? LOL If I were a fund manager, I would have jumped all over MOT about a month or so ago for a long term play. That's why we have it in our long portfolios so often. But we primarily play near-term swing or position plays here, and MOT has been difficult to call on the near-term. That's why I just added some MOT on Friday. . .seems like it does not want to quit the current momentum. Perhaps selling according to decreasing volume, might give a better indication of "when" the party is over. Or taking SOME profits on secondary positions when see a major peak. . .and holding core position to beyond earnings and even beyond the small earnings profit-taking. . .and watch what happens. That way we have profits and don't miss any important runs. . . then if it begins behaving the way it used to in the summer, can dump core position several points lower and not be as concerned, due to the profits that were locked in at the high. It can't hurt to take a profit. . . . and if you miss a few points, when you jump back in later, so what? Yeah, I realize this isn't much of an answer, but it is a difficult question, since MOT has been doing so well. I think that companies with great earnings this week, will out perform the best internets over the next 2-3 months. I hope I helped ask the right questions that will stimulate your making up your own mind on what the best play is. As you know, I cannot give advice or tell you how to play. . . only share what I might do, or ask the relevant questions that will help you to make up your own mind. Rande Is
