Was buying Handspring a ploy ? is Palm also ? Heard of IBM/Psion "netBOOK" ?

Good info Louis . Clever of SJ to head-fake to Handspring if he was negotiating a Palm deal with 3COM .

The Prez of Palm recently resigning could be indicative she saw a dead end if either AAPL took over , OR introduced a competing product .

What is puzzling is why would AAPL now opt to go outside its PowerPC base when that was part of the logic to originally can the Newton etc .

Enter IBM . Did SJ/AAPL opt for the Palm after turning down the deal Psion got from AIM partner IBM to build a "netBOOK" ?

"netBOOK" , a rather catchy name , and Psion's "netBOOK" is limited to "CPU direct" communications . So at this stage the internet is not a factor ... come on IBM it's the only game in town .

Is Handspring really a dead fish , or are they working on a PowerPC offering with Palm compatibility ?

Louis , got your search engine in gear ?

Thanks,
Jim K.
