The stock is holding fairly well despite the earnings warning. I can't say that I was all that surprised by the warning, but that is quite a hit on the revenue side. When Del was hired, Borland was bringing in $30-40 million (without VSGN). I mentioned earlier that the numbers for the quarter weren't going to be that critical. What the market wants to know is what to expect in the near future. Getting the bad numbers out of the way before next week's conference and the upcoming quarterly earnings statement was a good idea.

As for the bad numbers, I like to blame the Board for the way they handled Del's dismissal. Any pending enterprise sales at the end of the 1st quarter would have been practically impossible to push through after the rumors and speculation of "cooked books", fraud etc. Had that whole event been handled properly, I don't think the earnings would have been so bleak. Does that debacle have staying power? That is yet to be seen.

That said, I picked up some more shares at $4.5 today. Aside from the increase in short interest, there is some silver lining in this cloud. Plenty of cash from the MSFT deal, upcoming I-CON where we should hear more about the future of Inprise and Borland, Linux tools and some other Internet products in the pipe. Anyone else buying today?

Dennis
