Dman, Freeserve belongs to Dixon's which is a large retailer. It's easy for them to ramp up profitable E-commerce deals because they have all the infrastructure they need. XSNI hasn't announced any major E-commerce deals that I know of.

AOL share ownership - I would be surprised if the number of AOL members that own AOl shares is much different. But those numbers aren't tracked (as far as I know - maybe AOL gets them in market surveys) so you are only guessing.

Freeserve is the only major Internet issue to IPO so far in Europe so of course it is the biggest. The major ISP's to date have been national telephone companies which already trade on stock markets, and AOL.

Finally, the UK ISP's are mostly bombarding each other as they compete for users and try to leverage some advertising and E-commerce revenues from their equipment costs. XSNI better have very deep pockets to compete.
