Interesting discussion. Brinker is doing the right thing by informing investors about the numerous open manholes on the road of investing. Too many naive investors have gotten into this internet mania. I know of one guy who has borrowed money on his credit card, and then used that money to open a margin account... to buy internet stocks!

And then there's another friend of mine who doesn't have the faintest clue about how much stocks have returned over longer periods of time, and yet, thinks that he can invest! The joke in our friends' circles is that when this guy finally buys a stock (looking only at its price action, splits and other such irrelevant info, of course), it is a clear sign that the market has topped!

Whenever I can, and whenever they listen to me, I advice people to take a "go slow" approach and educate themselves first. And I usually direct them to Brinker's radio program because most people are not interested in reading investment books, at least in the beginning.
