well, i think we can all agree that with the higher PE levels being accorded to Sun that Wall Street is expecting Sun not only to grow at a higher rate but also manage earnings to the levels that other blue chip companies do. Oracle got this same status a couple of years ago and stumbled and their stock hasnt been the same since. Sun has an excellent management team as compared to CPQ, HP and yes even IBM so their credibility and historical ablity to deliver on these expectations are excellent and a real reason as to why the stock is performing so well.

As we are on the glide path to Y2K most companies will try and
avoid changing/adding to the server side unless they absolutely have too.


This is an absolutely excellent point, and all by itself supports the current SUNW multiple. If SUNW FY99 is in the bag and IT budgets are on hold, then year 2000 is a gimme for Sun server sales.

James, you're a smart guy. You should re-think being a Wintel shill and consider becoming a Solaris admin.
