Sorry, I have to disagree.

"All Scripture is inspired of God and benenficial for teaching, reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work." (2 TImothy 3: 16-17)

Jesus often quoted from scripture and used illustrations to teach a lesson, that is true. But it was always clear that he was doing so. He never used an illustration while indicating that it was a historical fact. The bible presents the ancient stories of the hebrews as factual events that really happened. Not as illustrations.

How do you KNOW FOR A FACT that not all of the bible stories are factual?

Job is a book of the bible that teaches us many things. I am of the mind that it was written by a single man, most likely Moses. In the book of Job we find out that Satan directly chalanged God's sovereignty, his right as creator to rule the universe. He also chalanges that man is only faithful to God if he is given blessings. Job proved Satan a lier by remaining faithful dispite his hardships. If this is merely a story then there is no legal merit to his faithfulness. The story can only serve as a proof if it is real. Otherwise the true value of the account is lost in fiction.

I wonder, what do you beleive God intends for mankind?
