fyo - re: "I think we can all agree that while technically interesting, the 8-way (and up) systems are not relevant to AMD's financial success or lack of same. In other words: who cares?"

As an Intel investor, I care !

EVery 8-way XEON system implies that a fully loaded system goes out the door with 8 XEONS !

Ever see what Intel sells the Xeons for?

From about $890 up to $3500.

Let's assume an average of $2195.

That would imply that each 8-way XEON system "could" bring in $17,560 in revenue for Intel.

Selling just 50,000 of these per quarter could then add $878 MILLION TO INTELS REVENUE !

For reference, that "8-way" business for Intel could be 1.5x ALL OF AMD's SALES this quarter !

Think of the AMD OPPORTUNITY LOST, fyo !

Paul
