Funny how Compaq is now following in the same footsteps as Packard Smell. In the latest issue of PC Magazine, Compaq rated below par for service and reliability in desktops:

Wasn't Compaq one of the pioneers of the sub-$1000 market? Meanwhile, Dell is on the top of that list, even though they're stepping very gingerly into the sub-$1000 market.

And Compaq is going to announce a loss in the last quarter in stark contrast to the profits that was previously predicted by the analysts. Dell, on the other hand, is still very healthy.
