Elroy, I watched BWEB all day today and at one point had a partial sell in @ 25-15/16, wanted to buy something else since I'm so poor...HA, they lowered the BID and I removed my sell order. Right after the CNBC announcement BWEB took OFF, now the news release was official at 4:10 PM but, If you had a Bloomberg machine you would see that it actually gave an alert ~ 3:43 PM meaning news was coming from BWEB, how they do it I don't know but, it happens... By then BWEB had already Jumped to 30-11/16 and was on it's way back down to 28+ but then momentum took over... a close look at the trading log will give you a better idea of what actually happened.

I would expect BWEB to come out of it's doldrums since the bollinger bands were tight and it was due for a breakout.

I'm Holding my BWEB because they have patented tek and Bill Gates said BUY DIGITAL and BWEB facillitates transmision/flow of Digital data... they actually remind me of RMBS' because they own their tek... If you read Steve Harmon, he Likes BWEB but, did not really detail why except to say it's "a bargain"...

BackWeb's Internet communications infrastructure software,
BackWeb Foundation, allows businesses to efficiently gather,
target and deliver sizable digital data of any format – audio,
video, software files, html, and others – to user desktops
across their extended enterprise.

I hear what you're saying. And I'm not naive enough to believe that every high tech company has 100% control over accidental leaks of their press releases.

However, it's been my observation that a CNBC analyst mention of an Internet stock sometimes moves it greatly, and sometimes does not. I'm not enough of an analyst to understand exactly why but I suspect that it it has a lot do with critical mass that is made of many other factors. I think in some market conditions an analyst comment moves the stock, and other times a very similar comment doesn't move the price, even when we might expect it to.

If I/we really had a good handle on how these things move, we'd be riding every 100%-400% run-up around, without error, every time.

I recognize and agree that it's possible that some people might have known a bit about the press release. But I doubt that it was at all widespread and I personally attribute the move to CNBC in this case, even though such a nod is by no means a guarantee of a run-up.

You make valid points nonetheless... but hey... who among us really knows? It's ALL speculation, isn't it?

Elroy, BWEB was up 15% today; that is not unusual for an internet stock. Did you see KOOP last week? Also keep in mind that the stock was oversold, and was due for a bounce -- look at the chart, particularly at Momentum and MACD. Furthermore, the float is small. I wasn't watching my terminal when this thing was running, but from what I heard, the gain was just after the analyst spoke. So, it sure looks like that was the spark that launched the stock. If I were you, I'd be careful with your speculation because, lacking evidence to support your theory, it could get you into trouble. I've seen it before.

I cannot recall the name of the fund manager, he was NOT an analyst....but he was said to be the number one technology fund manager for the past three years with almost a 40% annual return....he has been on numerous times before...they were just about out of time when he was asked to quickly tell his number one tech stock pick........he quickly said BWEB with a huge smile on his face and said that he came out of the meeting amazed .....that was the end of the interview......damn, I can remember all that but not his name. SORRY !!! The fund name was very long BUT one word.

Sorry , again
