Kevin,

<If AMD is operating in Q4 of calendar year 2000 with the same financial performance that they're operating at today, they're gone. Bought out for sure.>

Don't you think 3 or 4 more 200 million dollar loss quarters would be enough to be forced to sell out? At any rate, I agree with your statement above if not sooner.

<I think you now understand why some discount was--and is--appropriate.>

Why do you say "now"? I have always said they should offer some discount. If they didn't volume would have been nil.

<One thing I assure you is that Jerry didn't just wake up one morning and decide to pull 25% out of his *ss.>

Based on some of the incredible things Jerry has said and his hatred of Intel this wouldn't surprise me at all <gg>. Why do you think he is judged to be one of the weakest CEO's in America. I'm sure you've read these same articles. Do you think it is because he has made sound rational decisions?

<Did it ever occur to you that there might have been a method to AMD's madness--a REASON for the selected 25% figure?>

Yes, but I think the method to AMD's madness was driven my Jerry's ego and his hatred of Intel more than by sound business reasons.

FF

Yeah. It sounds nice (i.e. marketing). Even now people think AMD is still sticking to the 25% discount policy, even though AMD "officially" discontinued it.
