"..All the new hand held players supporting
the SDMI specifications will be in the market this
Christmas. I would think that Phase 1 (all formats
supported) would last a year or two. You might
find more authoritive information tomorrow in the
SDMI announcement (assuming there is one - it
was SUPPOSED to be today!), or at their
website, sdmi.org. I believe though,
that most "new" music produced from this point
on, will NOT be in MP3. It will be in Lucent's
EPAC format or maybe MP4 (which is secure) or
a few others. Thus, only existing MP3 music (and
that done by "minor" artists or "for charity") will be
in that format. I would play the "pop" of the MP3
IPO, maybe ride it a little, maybe not, and then
take profits. Just MHO. Hope that helps...
