Hi Bill,
Is it public complacency, nervousness remembering last year, rather be outdoors, or just not having a clear indication of where we are headed? I fall into this latter category. The conflicting economic and market indicators and trends seem to defy a consistent interpretation. It was so much easier to predict last year. I am down to looking at the calendar, today is the new moon. Unfortunately I can't remember whether you are suppose to buy or sell on the new moon? Does anybody out there remember?
(It probably doesn't make any difference as long as I pick the right stocks to either buy or sell.)
Some traders may be concerned about the PPI. An interesting observation is that some of the economic data series are bouncing higher and lower in a dampening pattern somewhat like seismic after shocks rather than precursors. I see no reason the inflation statistics wouldn't do this likewise.
