LML, my thinking exactly. IMHO, if you don't have Mr. Buffett's temperament to investing, then DON'T invest in BRK.

Let me add another agreement to LML's post. I keep Berkshire as my largest holding for exactly those reasons. But a third reason I'd like to add:

Invest and go to sleep. I actually look forward to big crashes, since I KNOW they're what makes WEB happiest. There is no stock on earth that has a higher "sleep well at night" quotient than Berkshire.

I'm forced to do the high tech myself, since he doesn't. Not that I "understand" them in the same way he "understands" razors, candy, and soft drinks, but I believe that THAT degree of century-long certainty isn't necessary for high tech. I'm more than happy to have a 5-year-only horizon on my tech holdings. (Buffett prefers the certainty to extend at least 50 years, preferably 100).
