Posted by Gaston on the Nostradamus thread...

Yet another reason I do not believe in the
concept of Nations, borders, flags, and the like... it is the human race, and the power of
the individual where one should bet, the rest is nothing more than lies promoted by
politicians.

Wow- you know 3! I am impressed that you know any.

My parents whole circle of friends were college professors and teachers- my father was a librarian, my mother an English professor. I have never met a more delightful group of people.

Many of my own professors in college were very nice, friendly, helpful, and engaging. I did not socialize with them, but I would have liked to. The only really pompous people I met were lecturers, who were not tenured faculty. I think it was the insecurity that made them pompous. The full professors either were dedicated researchers, or fun loving teachers who liked teaching their subject- or, in the very best professors, both these attributes were combined.

Yes X, I know three college professors, including one dean, and they are all pompous
elitists

I am not surprised they would seem so to you. It takes a certain amount of intelligence to appreciate intelligent people.

And I'm not sure that cleaning the bathrooms of professors offices at night counts as "knowing" them.

"pompous elitists" = look at Barrett like he was a piece of not nice stuff on the bottom of their shoes
