Tenchusatsu,

From Skeeeter: <this TOTALLY supports my assertion that most folks are migrating toward the cheap boxes>

No, it doesn't. Don't let him get away with it. From my previous post:

Third, your previous assertion that the low-end is a significant section of the market is not supported by the IDC numbers and has now been disproved. Sub-$600 systems will only grow from 10.8% to 13.7% of the total market. The $600-$1000 segment is flat from 42.7% to 43.4% if I assume a significant drop in the high-end business otherwise it's shrinking. This is not what anyone would consider significant growth.

The first line should actually read Third, your previous assertion that the low-end is showing significant growth is not supported by the IDC numbers. The low-end market is showing very little growth, and these numbers would be the most it would show since I was very generous in my estimates to Skeeter's advantage.

Dave

cheap boxes start supporting DRDRAM?
Besides pin count, a transmission line interface should use less power than a current/transistor interface. I don't have any hard data on power consumption but I expect to see an advantage.
