Stuart,

(Perhaps a potential buying opportunity followed by a short squeeze?)

Squeezes are few and far between. Although it is tempting to view a big short position as bullish ("they have to buy back sometime"), in practice I think having someone around ready to badmouth the stock hurts more.

The big short positions in biotech recently have mostly not worked out well - AGPH being the best example, but shorts also lost on CNTO and NXTR (although there it was hard to tell how big the short position really was). OTOH, shorts did very well in PGNS.
