Eat It Up
Wear It Out
Make It Do
Or Do Without

A favorite patriotic 1930's Great Depression motto used by people to pacify themselves when they had to forego necessities.

A great read written before y2k but the lessons are there:"First banks became worthless. Then businesses and factories closed their doors one after the other when consumer buying came to a virtual standstill.Farm prices had dropped out of sight and jobs became nonexistent. There was no money flow. The structure of American society had disintergrated."

Rarebird:<real panic stage.. should hit by Labor day>

Why do you think by then? GPS rollover breakdowns-receivers? Or, more of these kinds of stories finally getting to mainstream media, or what?

It is fascinating to contemplate the trigger that will initiate the dwindling spiral!

I believe that the trigger will be either:

1. bank runs in Japan and/or England, leading to bank runs here, probably around Nov, or
2. stock market bubble burst, probably Sept-Nov, or

3. terrorist attacks, used as the pretext for declaration of state of national emergency/federalizing national guard, and announcements of rationing, probably nov-15- dec 15.

What is your opinion?

It is reasonable to assume that many (hundreds?) state and local govts are also similiarly planning- but, of course, will not hit the news, except for the few cases where courageous people inside govt or investigative reporters will cause it to become known by various means.
