This one wasn't a fledgling- but we were going to put it back out in the yard this morning- in hopes that the parents might take care of it on the ground. Moot point now. I think there was something wrong with it- or I might have accidentally drowned it while I was watering. I feel very guilty.

Cobe- this is really good. Thanks for posting it. I think you are giving Antoine a run for his money on being the research king.

Also with injured birds, my vet told me if they have even the smallest bite or puncture from a cat, they will probably die of infection very quickly. We have this happen once or twice a year. (I guess you know why) Of course, since I deal with dead birds every morning, I am inured to the sight. Poor X is still sensitive.
