Duff & Phelps says China likely to devalue yuan

CHICAGO, July 13 (Reuters) - Credit rating company Duff & Phelps Credit Rating Co. said Tuesday that China is likely to devalue its currency, the yuan, over the next six months.

''The calculus in China has changed,'' said Roger Scher, D&P's chief of Asian sovereigns. ''Pressures for a devaluation are mounting, especially from exporters and import-competing industries. Policymakers could opt for a devaluation some time over the next six months,'' he said in a news release received here.
